Community gardeners exchange

Fall is nearly here and so is our third Community Gardeners’ Exchange🪴
Next Saturday, come by the garden with your plants and gardening supplies and exchange them for new ones to start your fall garden!
Examples of items to exchange are gloves, seeds, recent harvets, plants, cuttings, hand tools and more
The exchange is a day to connect with the local gardening community, prevent usable items from going to the landfill, and find new gems to add to your garden!
Art in the garden: watercolor class for kids!

Come paint in the garden with artist and teacher Laurie Hartsook!
- Ages 6 - 14
- $35 per person, supplies included
We will begin with a guided demonstration, leading us into an imaginary world of wonder. Then you add the foreground with inspiration from the beauty of the plants around us.
- Learn how to work in layers from light to dark
- Experience watercolor through light washes and darker details
- Use big and small brushes for different effects
- Spend time in nature and bring a friend!

Laurie has taught children from ages 4-16 for 30 years. She fills her teaching with a passion for sharing art, literacy, history, math, and wellness. As a long-time Waldorf teacher, Laurie wove art into every subject. Her specialty is to create multi- media art, making each piece an experiment. In this class, we will find inspiration from the nature around us, learning how to find form through line and shape, and find color through light and shadow.

Volunteer days
Starting next Friday, June 12th, from 9 am to 1 pm, we will be having volunteer days at the garden on the second Friday of each month! As a volunteer, you will be working alongside a staff member, restoring the garden and learning more about the local flora.
If you are interested in joining us, we recommend bringing a snack, gloves, and any small hand tools you think will be useful! The specific location we are working in the garden will be posted each day at the kiosk. All levels of experience are welcome! Join us at any time between 10 am and 2 pm!
We’re excited for this opportunity to connect with our community, where we can share our horticultural knowledge while working together to revitalize this historic garden!
